First snowfall?

Climate records indicate our area usually gets a small amount of snow in November and that has usually been consistent over the recent years.  After the autumn colors fade and leaves fall from the trees I’m ready for winter and for me that means bring on the snow.  It’s that gap in time between the appearance of bare trees and snow-covered trees that gets me confused about the seasons.  It feels like something (like snow) ought to be happening during that time yet it vacillates between temperatures for jackets and short-sleeves.  We need a name for this in-between season.

There was a small snowfall around Thanksgiving so we’re at least keeping up with the record books.  The ground is still pretty warm so most of the snow melted as it was landing but the amount falling was sufficient to cover anything not right on the round, at least until the air temperature melted it.  Just to urge the movement of the season toward winter I ran out and made a few images just to remind myself weather is moving in the right direction.  With the lack of water falling this past year I’m concerned these may be my winter snow shots…..
